Amongst the 100 stalls at the fair, most of them represented by jewellers from Mumbai and Jaipur argued that such a raid would dampen the spirit of the industry. ''It will bring us a bad name. It leaves a bad taste,'' said Mohan Lal Gupta, Vice President, Hyderabad Jewellers Association.

The recent International Gem and Diamond exhibition at Hyderabad, raised concerns as 18 fautly weighing machines were seized on site by Legal Metrology Department of the Andhra Pradesh police.

Whereas, according to Tejdeep Kaur Menon, Director, AP Legal Metrology, ''the irregular weighing machines are not stamped by Legal Metrology Departments of Jaipur or Mumbai or us. ''That's illegal according to the weights and measures act''.
With Poland and Bangkok evincing interest to participate in the fourth run of this exhibition next year, such cases could impact on the prestigious event.
