Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) inaugurated today the 15th edition of Jaipur Jewellery Show, popularly known as ‘The December Show”.

Pramod Agrawal during his welcome speech said, “Jaipur is very important for the industry. It is the heart of cutting and polishing of colour stone and also some of the most unique jewellery crafts. We are in the process of launching jewellery parks across India, first one being in Mumbai. The aim is to rehabilitate the artisans and their skills. Colour stone is a strength of Jaipur and I would request the industry here to come up with a program and let me know what can be done to promote colour stones. MSMEs are very important for the industry and we have expressed to the government to make financing easier for this sector.”

During his speech, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC & Chairman of DDE said, “We are working to resolve the VAT that is applicable to gems and jewellery. We were the first country to join the Kimberley process in UAE. Today, Dubai is an active rough diamond hub with auctions happening every other day. This is the time for me to promote DMCC and I very much need the feedback and support of the people here. This is my second visit to Jaipur. I was very curious about the jewellery industry here. I’d like to visit Jaipur more often and I want to learn about the business here.”

This year, the show has increased number of exhibitors of 816 as compared to 780 exhibitors in 2017. This year, 250 trade visitors have confirmed their presence for the show. With this, the show is yet again all set to prove its position as a premier event of the colourstone industry.
