The annual certificate distribution function of the Jewellery Product Development Centre (JPDC) took place at the WIAA Club, Malabar Hill in Mumbai, on January 31, 2008. Present on the occasion was Navin Jasnani, Director Sama Jewellery, Vasant Mehta, Vice Chairman GJEPC, Tanvirkumar Choksi, Convener JPDC and other members of the JPDC committee.%%The function commenced with Felicitation of the Chief Guest Navin Jasnani by Tanvir Choksi and distribution of certificates to the deserving students followed. The institute has been operational since 1985 and offers professional and short-courses to students.%%Navin Jasnani congratulated the students and praised their efforts. He encouraged students and enlightened them about the role of environment and society in jewellery designing. H e said, “The industry is looking for designers who have originality. A good designer is someone who can strike the balance between fantasy and practicality. The balancing of connection between society, industry and consumer needs to be achieved.”%%Vasant Mehta spoke about the liberalization and globalization that has come about in the gem and jewellery sector, retail in particular. He Said,” the students at JDPC will fill the gap of jewellery designing and manufacturing specialists require in the sector for its further growth.” The evening also saw other speakers like Namita Pandya and Tanvir Kumar Choksi.
