{{Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri, president of CIBJO}}, The World Jewellery Confederation, concluded a five-day working visit to Israel in the second week of July, during which he met and conferred with leaders of the countrys diamond, gemstone and jewellery industries. He visited Israel following an invitation by {{Avi Paz}}, the newly elected president of the Israel Diamond Exchange.%%During his visit, Cavalieri also held talks with {{Shmuel Mordechai, director of the Diamond}}, Precious Stones and Jewellery Administration of the Israeli Ministry of Industry and Trade; Simcha Lustig, chairman of the of the Israel Diamond Institute, the IDI board and its general manager, Efraim Raviv; IDE president Paz and the exchanges general manager, Yair Cohen; Motti Ganz, president of the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association (IsDMA), its board and general manager, Motti Besser; David Taiber, president of the Israel Jewellery Manufacturers Association (IJMA), and Itzhak Bendor, IJMAs director general; as well as with Shmuel Schnitzer, president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB).%%"I was very pleased to find that across the board, the Israeli gem and jewellery industry is not only intimately aware of CIBJOs mission, but also unequivocally underwrites CIBJOs efforts," Cavalieri said.%%"In our meetings, Avi Paz expressed his personal commitment to strengthen the cooperation between the Israeli diamond and the jewellery manufacturing industries. Mr. Paz himself owns a diamond company that is vertically integrated, and is involved in jewellery design and manufacturing. He pledged to put forward a proposal to his membership that the IDE join CIBJO. This, he said, would serve his organizations interest in improving consumer confidence and protecting diamond jewellery products from reputational risk," Cavalieri reported.%%The CIBJO president stressed that he had also found a strong ally and friend in Shmuel Mordechai. "The Diamond Controller, as he is referred to in Israel, emphasized the importance that he and his office ascribe to CIBJOs mission and to membership in the organization, and we expect to be working closely in the years to come," Cavalieri stated. "Both Paz and Mordechai are men of vision and are proving to be true leaders by tackling their industries issues head on."%%In a meeting with the leadership of the Israel Jewellery Manufacturers Association, Cavalieri said CIBJO would be glad to offer its assistance in enhancing the international character of the third edition of IJMAs Jovella Show, which will take place in June 2006. He added that CIBJO plans to take an active role in the exhibitions educational program.
