Belgium's polished exports rise by 57%

Rough diamond exports jump by 130%

Reports say that the export out of Israel in 2007 increased for the jewellery category. The overall jewellery exported was $410 million in 2007, rising by 5% over 2006, when it was $390 million. Within this totality, nearly half (43%) was of non-embedded gold jewellery worth $176 million was exported to US, England, Russia, Hong Kong and Canada. Amongst the gold jewellery manufacturers five companies exported over $15 million.%%Diamond and gem studded jewellery accounted for 37% of total exports amounting to $154 million (17% rise over exports in 2006), targeting consumers in US, England, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Belgium, Russia and Spain. Fifteen jewellery manufacturing companies generated $5 million worth of exports in 2007, including 50% of them manufacturing embedded jewellery.%%Israel exported $52 million worth of fashion jewellery to US, England, Japan, Canada, Australia, Italy and Spain, while $28 million worth of silver jewellery to US, England, Canada, France and Switzerland. The IDI admits that the rising prices of gold has affected the gold and embedded gold jewellery category, which account for around 80% of Israel’s jewellery exports.
