The results of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) board elections are scheduled to be announced late evening on June 18th. The selection of the six representatives to the Board of Directors is based on a formula to ensure that all stakeholders of the Belgium diamond community are fairly represented. The members of the Belgium diamond community are placing their votes on June 17 and June 18. %% Of the six representatives, two diamond dealer directors will be elected by diamond companies having an average turnover of € 100 million or more; two diamond dealer directors will be elected from diamond companies with an average turnover between € 30 million and € 100 million; and another two such directors elected by diamond companies with an average turnover between € 500,000 and € 30 million. %% All diamond dealing companies registered with the Federal Government Services, Economy – more than 1800 in total – are entitled to vote for the category to which they belong, and each may vote for two candidates. A further six members of the 12-person board also need to be selected. Three of them are representatives of the bourses and two represent the industry. They are appointed by the respective representative organisations. The final mandate will be assigned to an independent director.
