The World Federation of Diamond Bourses announced its association with Diamond World, a well-known globally circulating Indian publication of the diamond, gems and jewellery sectors. The magazine has agreed to join the WFDB Mark Associate Members Program. %%Howard Pomerantz, the roving WFDB Ambassador for this WFDB Program said he was encouraged by the positive responses that were received from what he called the WFDB Mark Associate Member “early adopters.” %%Alok Kala, Editor Diamond World said, “We are happy to associate with WFDB Mark. Our magazine has been a vehicle serving the global diamond sector and we shall continue to do so. The WFDB Mark will be widely popularized through our magazine and we will give it the required support.” %%Diamond World will help advance and publicize the WFDB Mark to its readership, through its publication. “I believe that we have just taken the first steps of a long march,” said Pomerantz, speaking in Shanghai at the 33rd World Diamond Congress. “In essence, the WFDB Mark is a symbol that emphasizes that its holder complies with the strict ethical code of the WFDB. But its effectiveness is dependent on its being a recognizable icon in the greater jewellery industry. That we will achieve with the assistance of our associate members from the media.” %%The early adopters of the WFDB Mark Associate Member Program were honoured at a special ceremony during the World Diamond Congress on May 13, in Shanghai. %%Michael Vaughan, the WFDB’s Secretary General and Executive Director concurred. “The increased visibility of the WFDB Mark by means of advertisements in these leading industry publications will be of enormous help and we are very pleased that we have them on board. There are at present more than 1,000 WFDB Mark holders worldwide and we are definitely hoping for a snowball effect.” %%Five more of the diamonds, gems and jewellery sectors’ trade publications have signed the WFDB Mark Associate Member Program- IDEX Magazine, INSTORE, Modern Jeweler the Rapaport Diamond Report and JCK Magazine.
