The U.S. Patent No. 7,414,709 has been issued to Randall M. Wagner and Ben L. Wong of Wisconsin, for their innovation in a system and method for online evaluation of gemstones. U.S. Patent & Trademark Office handed the patent to the company GemEx Systems Inc. on August 19, 2008. %% The method allows a consumer to evaluate the visual appearance and measurement data of the gemstone by emulating the laboratory instruments that previously collected the data. To log onto the website, the consumer passes through the gemstone database, emulation software, and graphical user interface. When the consumer identifies the gemstone to evaluate, an interactive gemstone certificate screen is displayed. Then he is allowed to select and emulate a variety of lab instruments, for colour and clarity grading, geometric measuring, and light performance and light ray tracing. The information is reproduced on the computer through images and data, the selected portion of which can be downloaded and printed saved onto the computer memory drive.
