Doha will host the fifth Gulf Excellence Forum (GEF) 2006 with a theme addressing communication, starting from May 1, according to the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), which is one of the associated partners. The two-day event, aims at establishing enhanced trading among companies in the Gulf region, is being held at Ritz Carlton, QCCI said yesterday. The previous session was held in Bahrain in 2005. The diamond sponsor is Kuwait-based Gulf Investment House, platinum sponsor is Kuwait Financial Centre and Gold sponsor is Mas International, while the media partners are Al Iktisaad Wal-Aamal magazine and CNBC Arabia.%%The event will feature prominent technocrats and decision makers, also aims at establishing standards for performance and quality by awarding prizes. The fifth Gulf Excellence Awards shall be presented to the winners on the first day of the Forum and the winners shall be selected on the basis of specific criteria and rules by the award committee. The awards are presented to organizations as recognition for their outstanding accomplishments and the success they have achieved in the competitive business world. QCCI officials feel that these awards shall serve as an inspiration for the business community to strive for excellence in all aspects of business.%%On 1st May, two pre-forum workshops are scheduled to be held in the morning session simultaneously. These workshops shall provide interactive sessions on two relevant issues: productivity and international trade — with a special focus to GCC. The Forum events shall include sessions held by eminent speakers, sessions allocated for award winners to share their success stories, and sessions for sponsors to deliver a presentation on their prestigious organizations. There shall be interactive session between speakers and attendees which shall provide an opportunity for attendees to share their views and experience within the GCC business community.
