The global business environment seems to be constantly under the microscope, should it be hampered. While the economic recession is still not showing any signs of recovery, the recent outbreak of swine flu in American and European countries, is raising eyebrows. %% For the jewellery trade, networking is a key factor to survival and growth. The beginning of every year, the industry is always looking forward to trade events. The swine flu hurdle may affect forthcoming trade shows of 2009, including Charm- Vicenza, JCK Las Vegas and IIJS, Mumbai. %% The JCK Las Vegas show is just around the corner, scheduled for May-June, 2009. Being rated as a highly influential event for the industry, it is common for one to wonder if the attendance would be as per expectations, bearing in mind the fear of swine flu. When contacted, Dave Bonaparte - Group Vice President-JCK Events showed a positive outlook for the forthcoming event, saying, “While we remain diligent in following this situation, all existing plans for LUXURY/PREMIERE, JCK Las Vegas and SWISS WATCH by JCK are scheduled to move forward as planned. We are anticipating a great event in Las Vegas.” %% He further added that, “The World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention are not recommending any travel or trade restrictions at this time. WHO advises no restriction of regular travel or closure of borders.”
