Following an approval from the Board of DTC Botswana, Shrenuj Botswana (Pty) Limited has been appointed as a DTC Botswana Sightholder. The Board approval is an exceptional case, as usually, DTC Botswana supply arrangements are non-transferrable. This exceptional decision to supply Shrenuj Botswana has been taken by the Board to maintain progress in developing local beneficiation capabilities in Botswana. The new role conferred upon Shrenuj Botswana will help support the sustainability of diamond manufacturing capacity within Botswana. %% So far, the sluggish economy has made it difficult for an existing cutting and polishing factory in Gaborone to operate. Shrenuj Botswana would contribute to sustaining the jobs of up to 150 workers, while continuing diamond manufacturing, and benefit the citizens and economy of Botswana. %% Brian McDonald, Managing Director of DTC Botswana said, ‘as we do with all our Sightholders, we will offer every assistance to ensure the success of this manufacturing facility, and hence its contribution to beneficiation and corporate responsibility in Botswana’. %% Shrenuj Botswana (Pty) Limited is an arm of the Shrenuj India Group, which has been a Sightholder of the DTC since 1982. Shrenuj Botswana has remained consistent with all Sightholder appointments in Botswana, and successfully met the Sightholder eligibility criteria of DTC Botswana. Within its new ownership, the focus for the factory, will centre on a range of rough diamonds suitable for Shrenuj’s international downstream requirements for the key global consumer markets. %% Shrenuj Botswana has separately been granted an operating licence by the Government of Botswana.
