96 Jewellery pieces from 51 companies are nominated for grand jury round

With the holiday season fast approaching, Christie is presenting two sales of exceptional jewels on December 10, 2009 in New York. Over 180 items ranging from rare and important diamonds and gemstones, to signed and period jewels will feature at the sale. The day begins with New York Jewels, a selection of jewels, watches, clocks and unique creations for both women and men, in prices ranging from $1000 to $2million. The sale is followed by the Magnificent Jewels from a Distinguished Private Collector auction displaying a special single-owner collection of ten jewels, including the rare and important Evening Star Diamond. The combined sales are expected to realise in excess of $15 million. %% Leading the sale of magnificent jewels from a distinguished private collector is the Golconda mine sourced pear shaped 39-carat D colour Evening Star Diamond estimated to be between $3.6 to 5.5 million. Gracing the New York Jewels is a superb 20.42-carat rectangular cut fancy intense yellow, internally flawless diamond estimated to be between $400,000 to 600,000. Other noteworthy jewels include a Belle Epoque ruby and diamond pendant necklace from Dreicer & Co; a pair of sapphire and diamond ear pendants; an emerald bead and diamond necklaces by Tiffany & Co.; pair of cabochon sapphire and diamond ear pendants; assortment of extraordinary boxes, bowls and objects by Daniel Brush, and signed jewels by Buccellati , David Webb and Boucheron. An Art Deco Suede evening bag by Cartier, a vintage gold “shutter” bracelet by Van Cleef & Arpels besides an unusual diamond tie clip by jeweller Paul Flato will also feature at the auction. %%
