Shantibhai Patel receives Gem of the Year award by GJF

Apart from securing the 'Gem of the Year' awards, Mr. Patel has received many honorary awards and recognitions in the past

The {{International Gemological Institute (IGI)}}, the world’s largest independent laboratory for testing and grading gemstones and fine jewellery, recently launched its {{School of Gemmology }}in Surat, India. The institute has been instrumental in conducting professional grading courses across India since 1999 and has successfully initiated over 8,700 students into professional grading as per international standards. %% The institute had already introduced and completed a course on polished diamond grading. The course is a short-term practical oriented grading one which involves intricacies of diamond grading, educating the candidate on topics like diamond 4Cs, treatments, synthetics & pricing. The five-day course included 30 hours lab sessions and lectures, which were attended by the candidates from Gems and Jewellery Industry, amongst whom were mostly diamond brokers, jewellers and diamantaires. The course was conducted in English, Hindi and Gujarati, making it simpler for the students to understand and relate to the subject. With the practical hands-on training in the course, the participants are now able to evaluate and identify diamonds as per international standards. %% IGI has been conducting courses and programs for manufacturers and traders in Surat for over nine years now. Through the school, which offers a wide range of courses, the institute plans to bring practical courses for the traders, manufacturers, jewellers and gem enthusiasts for the people of Gujarat. %% At the recently held graduation ceremony {{Rohit Mehta,}} President of Surat Diamond Association and {{Tushar Choksi,}} President of Surat Jewellery Association awarded the diplomas issued from IGI headquarters in Antwerp, Belgium to the students on successful completion of the course.
