The Christie's Jewels: The London Sale saw a good turnout of buyers and buying interest. The sale realised $6.6 million, and sold 79 percent of the lots that were offered. According to the auction house, amongst the wide variety of mid-ninth to the 21st century being presented with other jewels, fine-quality diamonds, natural pearls and signed jewels caught more of the buyer attention. %% The sale’s top lot was a 14.85-carat, rectangular-cut D, VS1 diamond ring by Bulgari, bought for around $1.1 million, or $73,800 per carat. The Belle Epoque aquamarine necklace by Koch, realised five times its presale estimate, denoting the positivity in buying sentiments. %% The lots from the Cartier section as always did well. There was a whimsical squirrel brooch being bought for $36,346 (presale estimate of $6,543 to $7,270), while a 7.07-carat, E, VS2 diamond ring by Cartier sold for $487,326. Also, a pair of heart-shaped, diamond ear studs by Boucheron sold for $331,266.
