India’s diamond exports and imports in May 2010 showed good growth, on year-on-year levels. Exports of polished diamonds in the said month rose 73 percent to around $1.8 billion over the comparative period, while imports of polished goods improved 68 percent to $984 million, reports say. The country’s net polished exports valued $811 million in May 2010. %% Rough diamond exports increased 56 percent to $78 million, while imports rose 55 percent to $978 million, in the said month. The net diamond account in May 2010 reflected a polished deficit of $89 million, as compared to the $95 million polished deficit in the said month last year.
