The sixth edition of the Gemfields Retail Jeweller India Awards was held this year, and like its previous editions, it honoured personalities who delivered the best and most innovative and ingenious efforts in jewellery designing and promotions. “The awards are aimed at promoting the culture of excellence in the $20 billion Indian Retail jewellery industry”, says Soma Bhatta, Editor and Director, The Retail Jeweller, a leading magazine for jewellers and also the organiser of the Awards. %% The Retail Jeweller India Awards 2010 took place amidst a well attended gathering on August 22, at The Intercontinental – The Lalit. Of the 700 entries, 120 were shortlisted for the 20 categories of the awards: {{Diamond Jewellery of the Year, Diamond Vivaha Jewellery of the Year, Gold Jewellery of the Year, Gold Vivaha Jewellery of the Year, Platinum Jewellery of the Year, Color Gemstone Jewellery of the Year, Innovative Jewellery of the Year, Heritage Jewellery of the Year, Couture Jewellery of the Year, Print Campaign of the Year, TV Campaign of the Year, Radio Campaign of the Year, Retail Promotion of the Year, Retail chain of the year – National, Retail Chain of the year – Regional, New Showroom or Retail Transformation of the Year, 360 Marketing Campaign of the Year, Jewellery Designer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement of the Year – Retail, Lifetime Achievement of the Year – Manufacturing. }} ‘The Jewellery Style Icon of the Year’ category was introduced this year, and awarded to Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. %% Selection was undertaken by IMRB (independent process auditor for the awards), and an eminent jury: Anita Dongre, Fashion Designer, Binita Cooper, Managing Director (India), Forevermark (a De Beers group company), Priya Tanna, Editor, Vogue, Queenie Singh, Socialite, Tisca Chopra, Actor, Vaishali Banerjee, Country Manager (India), Platinum Guild International and Prasad Kapre, Co-Chairman, FICCI Gems and Jewellery. India’s leading jewellery houses including Tanishq, Anmol, Amrapali, Farah Khan Ali, Mira Gulhati, Minawala, Mahesh Notandas, TBZ- Nirmal Zaveri, Varuna d Jani, TBZ- The original competed for the top spot. “The Retail Jeweller India Awards 2010 aims to create an opportunity for retailers to celebrate the creative and business success in various segments of jewellery retailing such as product design, marketing and retail concepts, irrespective of their business size and commercial success”, adds Bhatta.
