The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has opened its new Hong Kong Laboratory which is a state-of-the-art facility that will offer on-site services for GIA Diamond Grading Reports and Diamond Dossiers for diamonds weighing 0.15 to 2.99 carats. It will also provide laser inscription and diamond sealing services. %% “We are pleased to be able to offer more services to the Asian market,” said Tom Moses, senior vice president of GIA Laboratory and Research. “This new location will make it possible for us to provide even quicker service to our clients.” %% Items requiring services not provided in this location – such as diamonds weighing more than 3.00 carats, colored diamonds, colored gemstones and pearls – will be transferred to another GIA Laboratory and promptly returned to the Hong Kong facility. %% The new laboratory is situated in the New World Tower at Queen’s Road Central. Following the inauguration, the GIA Hong Kong Service Center, which was located in the Aon China Building on Queen’s Road Central, has been closed.
