The first fiscal half of 2011 ending September 25, 2010 for Birks & Mayors, saw a 9 percent increase in revenues to $111.2 million. Although this period generated a loss of $9.5 million, it was encouraging to note that the loss value had reduced over the same period last year ($12.5 million). There was an 11 percent dip in inventory, which valued $140.8 million. The retailer attributed this encouraging modest performance to a recovering economy in Canada and the U.S.
