The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion in affiliation with the Surat Diamond Association (SDA) will host the India Gem & Jewellery Machinery Expo (IGJME) in Surat, from Dec 13-15, 2013. The expo, which is the first of its kind in the country is being organized by GJEPC will feature leading international and domestic manufacturers and suppliers of machinery, technology, allied products and services such as packaging, IT & Software, etc. Speaking about the expo, Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC said, “Gems and jewellery constitute one of India’s foremost business sectors comprising burgeoning exports and humongous vibrant domestic market with a value on par with the export trade. It is an industry of such mammoth proportions that perhaps no other country sees greater demand for gems & jewellery machinery, equipment and technology as India does.”%% Today, India’s proud prowess lies in diamond and jewellery manufacturing with Mumbai and Surat being the main centres for India’s burgeoning gem and jewellery exports. The high quality diamonds produced by the country have firmly established the Indian manufacturing industry’s position amongst the world’s best. Jewellery manufacturing has been growing at the rate of nearly 15-20 per cent annually over the last decade boasting of the highest standards of quality through the integration of machinery and technology and design development. The Indian gemstones, both precious and semi-precious, have also been gaining steady and rapid recognition as India continues to emerge as a major source with Jaipur having the distinction of being the manufacturing hub. Speaking about the event, Haresh Zaveri, Convener, Exhibitions Sub-committee (National) said, “although the machinery section has always been a significant part of the IIJS shows held each year, the IGJME is being organized with the view to significantly expand the presence for the machinery manufacturers & suppliers and more importantly, present the rapid technological advancements that are being made in this part of the industry sector with the view to upgrade the manufacturing industry.”%% The show will see participation from renowned names in the business and these include Gallorini, Italimtianti Orafi, Schultheiss, Rio Grande, Pandora, Leach Garner, Sisma Spa, Safimet Spa Italy, HRD, Milano, Lexus, Eve (Germany), besides Nickunj, Sahjanand, Professional ®, Gesswein, Wilmor, Eagle, Vapson from India, amongst other leading names from the country and abroad. The show which is being actively promoted across 50-60 towns and cities in the country is expected to witness the presence of 8,000 decision makers from the production and retail segments of gems & jewellery industry. Apart from GJEPC’s 5,500 members & 2500 members of the SDA, attendees will include jewellery manufacturers from key centres such as Surat, Rajkot, Mumbai, Jaipur, Coimbatore, Cochin, Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi, senior business heads as well as key production and technical members of the industry besides large retailers. The show is also expected to attract potential participants from Turkey, Israel, and Italy amongst others, adding the international flair to the expo, besides bringing in new concepts and ideas in technology to the Indian shores. In its premier edition, a special 5-star hospitality package is being offered to leading 100 pre-identified manufacturers and decision makers at the expo.
