The Indo Argyle Diamond Council (IADC) has announced they are organizing two buying trips to India for U.S. retailers this year. “As a part of our IADC program, we have worked with and escorted many retailers to India to facilitate relationships between them and the best diamond cutters/dealers and jewelry manufacturers India has to offer,” stated Liz Chatelain, CEO of MVI Marketing Ltd., IADC’s parent company.%%She goes on the say, “During our 13 years of existence, the IADC has helped their members and other jewelry manufacturers develop the most sellable diamond fashion 14kt, 18kt and platinum jewelry in the world.” The U.S. consumer has benefited from this progress. Now, India also dominates the bridal market at all price levels. “We had an instant feeling of confidence dealing with the manufacturers recommended by the IADC and we didn’t feel alone on the journey,” says Scott Berg of Lee Michaels Fine Jewelers in Louisiana, “We have been to India twice in the past year and we’ve made exceptional buys, far greater than we’d been making in the States.” IADC’s management costs are covered by their membership fees and IADC never charges commissions or any other type of fees to retailers or manufacturers for this service.%%“Many mid-level and independent retailers had requested our help in organizing a trip to India so they may also buy from the best Indian manufacturers at the same great pricing offered to major retailers” says Keith Dillmeier, IADC President, “I went to India in 1997 when I was a retailer, and saw first-hand the benefits of buying from Indian companies, either as a direct import or through their U.S. offices at the same low prices,” added Dillmeier.%%The two trips are scheduled for July and September 2007, and IADC will make all the travel arrangements, appointments and business requirements needed for a successful buying trip. “We will talk to every retailer coming on the trip to find out their particular needs and direct them to several companies that can service them,” said Dillmeier. The trip will include the SEEZP area for finished jewelry and Opera House district for loose polished diamonds and color stones in Mumbai (Bombay), plus New Delhi and a side trip to the Taj Mahal. Some of the cost of the trip will be covered by the IADC. Retailers will be offered the abilies to customize their travel dates which will affect their price of their trip.
