The Award is instituted in recognition of noteworthy contribution to the jewellery industry
The diamond skull has been up for sale since June 3. After the sale deal is over, which is expected to drag for 3 to 4 weeks, it is mandatory for the buyers to to exhibit the skull at various museums across the world, for two to three years.
According to Laurence Graff, of the House of Graff, who viewed the skull, placed an assumption on the identity of the buyers saying that they probably wouldn’t be “diamond people,†because the skull’s price was greater than the value of the diamonds.
Damien Hirst’s, UK’s wealthiest artist has sold his creation –a diamond skull, for $100 million, which is estimated to cost $15 to $18.8 million to craft. The art piece embedded with 8,601 diamonds weighing 1,106.18 carats has been bought by an unnamed investment group.
