GJC announces the 9th edition of National Jewellery Awards (NJA) 2019

This year, NJA awards is having 35 awards across 8 different categories

All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council, the apex body for domestic jewellery sector, announces the 9th edition of National Jewellery Awards 2019, one of the highly awaited and acclaimed Jewellery awards in India. The jury this year consists of Bollywood’s celebrated jewellers, Jewellery designers, socialists fashion designers and B-Town’s celebrities.

This year, NJA awards is having 35 awards across 8 different categories, like Jewellery Awards (17 categories), Excellence Awards (Campaign of the Year), Store Awards (5 categories – North, South, East, West and Central), Designer Awards (Hand Sketch/ CAD), Artisan Awards (Artisan/ Craftsman), Student of the Year Award, Corporate Social Responsibility Award and Special Award (6 categories, which includes; Women Entrepreneur, Anmol Ratna Award, Gem of the year for East, West, North, South).

The nomination process for the National Jewellery Awards (NJA) 2019, an initiative by All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC), has started on their portal and is open till 15th January 2020. The awards are to honour the rich Indian artistic, creative designs in the gems and jewellery industry and the business & marketing acumen of the jewellery manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, aspiring jewellery designers, craftsman and students of gems and Jewellery across India. The NJ Awards 2019 will consist of the most credible jury comprising Top Designers, Professionals and Celebrities. Ernst & Young are the process advisors to the awards this year, adding scrutiny and secrecy to the awards, thus ensuring unbiased and transparent process.

The Grand Finale is scheduled in Mumbai on 15th February 2020. Commenting about the awards,

Mr Anathna Padmanabhan, Chairman, GJC said, “India as a country has a vast heritage and culture of producing one of world’s finest jewellery. India has immense pool of talent of artisans and craftsmans. NJ Awards was instituted as an acknowledgement to the contribution to the industry and to encourage the jewellery industry. NJA Awards over the years have established itself as one of the most reputed jewellery awards in the country since its inception in the year 2011.”

Mr Shaankar Sen, Vice Chairman, GJC, added, “The jewellery community in India eagerly awaits for the NJA Awards, as the awards are not just recognition to the jewelers, but it is an encouragement for the jewellery industry as a whole who contributes widely to the Indian economy and are trend setters for latest fashion designs. It also give a platform to showcase one’s talent at this jewellery extravaganza. Would like to urge the jewellery community to come forward and enroll for the NJA Awards 2019 nominations.”

Mr Ashish Pethe, Convener, NJ Awards, Director GJC, Said, “We expect to have over 1000 nominations this year for the NJ Awards, considering the magnanimous status of the awards. This year again, we have a special award for Women Entrepreneur as we want to acknowledge and encourage more women participation in the industry. Bringing Ernst & Young as our process advisor for the awards make this award more transparent. The industry needs cheer as the gem and jewellery contributes to 7 percent to India’s GDP and 16 percent of merchandise exports.”
