Botswana may take diamond cutting and polishing training from India

The initiative will enable a benefication industry to develop in Botswana

As per reports, De Beers has decided to put the sale of its Kimberley mine sampling plant on hold.%%But it has not provided any reasons for doing this.%%In February 2007, the company had invited offers for the Kimberley mine as well as a number of residual and dormant diamond tailing resources in and around Kimberley. %%As part of the restructuring process, the Kimberley mine was to continue to process tailings resources through the Combined Treatment Plant (CTP), which produces around 1 million carats of diamonds a year. The company had announced June 25th as the closing date for accepting bids for the mine sampling plant, however, De Beers’s adviser Umbono Financial Services indicated that the transaction has been put on hold.%%De Beers has completed retrenchment negotiations with its employees and the National Union of Mineworkers as per a report.
