Company's jewellery unit scores rise in sales, diamond sales dip

Diamond Trading Co. (DTC) has signed on Unisys Corp.’s British subsidiary in a $16.5 million contract, to provide IT outsourcing services. The seven year contract involves Unisys to operate DTC's applications on servers at its United Kingdom sites.%%"To maintain the DTC's leadership in the global rough-diamond marketplace, we require a sophisticated, business-driven IT infrastructure that enhances our supply chain and supports our operations," DTC Director of IT and Programs Jeremy Newell mentioned.%%Unisys’ scope of work involves to design and create a comprehensive IT architecture that would support DTC's strategic software applications and help it enhance its supply chain efficiencies. It would also help guard against system downtime by improving disaster-recovery capability, consistency of service and provide better management of operational costs.%%Unisys intends to support these systems through its facility in Bangalore, India, while its offices in United Kingdom and Hungary will provide project management services. It expects to begin operating the DTC server by August 2008.
