The International Diamond Laboratories (IDL), which has its world Lab in Dubai and colour labs in Mumbai and Antwerp, has churned out a total of 1000 certificates within four weeks of initiating production activities. So far, IDL’s collection point in the Dubai Gold Souk has taken the lead for the number of registered stones.%%IDL’s 1000th diamond certified was for a 3 carat princess cut registered in Mumbai by Rosy Blue, and the Blue Star Group in Mumbai received the 999th IDL Certificate for a 5 carat fancy color diamond. ‘We have reached this first milestone earlier than expected. IDL will honour the confidence it is receiving from its clients by continuing to deliver accurate and consistent grading results.’ said Peter Meeus, CEO of IDL.%%IDL’s product portfolio includes a Diamond Certificate, a Compact Diamond Certificate, a complementary Digital Certificate and a 2C Color Certificate, which are delivered within 48 hours upon receipt of the diamond at any of its laboratories. According to Samit Bhatta, IDL’s General Manager India & Middle East, IDL’s digital certification is becoming popular amongst the industry with positive feedback obtained from its subscribers. Arnav Mehta of the Blue Star Group said: "We have been receiving accurate and consistent results from IDL on all our stones. IDL certificates are getting known in the marketplace. The digital certificate is helping us sell our diamonds faster." Also commenting on IDL's product offerings, Russel Mehta from Rosy Blue said "Often, negotiations between buyer and seller fail because they cannot agree on the color. IDL’s technology for automated color grading provides consistency of results. I feel we can all make the most of this tool in establishing the lowest color grade in small diamonds, where we sell in volumes. Discussions on color grading are now a thing of the past.”
