De Beers expects its diamond trade with China to grow by 12-13% by end-2007, owing to the increased demand for diamond jewellery in China.%%Tastes in jewellery are changing in the country, from jade and other jewellery to diamond jewellery, especially in the wedding jewellery category. According to the Gem and Jewellery Trade Association of China, the overall trading value of jewellery in China is expected to touch 200 billion yuan by 2010, making China the biggest jewellery market, worldwide.%%In 2006, about 40 per cent of mainland Chinese women bought diamond rings for their weddings, which increased De Beers’ revenues by 18 per cent to $1.7 billion, compared to 2005.
