Anita Dongre has been a part of the Indian fashion industry for the past many years. She shot into the limelight in 1999 when she decided to enter the branded market with her western wear pret line for women called AND. AND that consists of comfortable, stylish and affordable western wear. AND retails in Mumbai and Bangalore.%% She entered the world of fashion immediately after schooling and enrolled at the prestigious Indian fashion design school, SNDT. After completing the course in 1983, she taught at SNDT for 2 years. To encourage design students, Anita now serves as an external mentor to institutes like {{SNDT, NIFT}} and {{G.D. Somani.}}%% Subsequent to the popularity of AND, Anita launched a line of Fusion and Ethnic wear under the label AND EAST.%% Anita's signature label {{"Anita Dongre"}} was launched in August 2000 at the CPD Dusseldorf Garment Fair in Germany. Anita was the first Indian designer honored and invited to showcase her collection at the finale of the CPD Fashion Show.%% In 2001, Anita provided the casual wardrobe for all the Femina Miss India contestants and designed the pageant gown and the eveningwear wardrobe for Shamita Singha representing India at the Miss Earth Contest. She also designed formal wear for Kanwal Toor who represented India at the Miss International contest in 2001.%% Anita designed the finale gowns on behalf of the Westside Stores for all contestants of the Citadel Miss Pune Contest held in September, 2004 at Pune. Optimizing the capacity of the manufacturing facilities is a priority for Anita Dongre. She has successfully designed and manufactured uniforms for many companies such as {{Lakme, BPL, Sunsilk, Calvin Klein, Baccarose, Sahara Amby Valley }} and the {{Dhirubhai Ambani International School}}.

Foray into Bollywood:

Marking her foray into Bollywood Anita has designed and styled the look of actors in the movie 'My Brother Nikhil'.%% She has now set up a full-fledged division for films and currently working on numerous film assignments. She is also designing the personal wardrobes of {{Mallika Sherawat}} and {{Isha Koppikar}}, among others.%% Anita has also put together a special collection for {{Mallika Sherawat}}, which the actress sported at {{The International Cannes Film Festival}}, including the red carpet event to premiere her movie opposite {{Jackie Chan}}.%% Anita bagged the {{'Best Pret Designer'}} for the year 2001-2002 from the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India.
