The curtains came down on the {{36th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair-2005}} concluding yet another year of success. The Fair held from September 14 to 19 at the IMPACT Exhibition & Convention Centre, Muangthong Thani, attracted an average crowd this year. {{Preecha Laohapongchana}}, Deputy Minister of Commerce of Thailand presided over the inauguration.
The perfect blend of glittering jewellery, sparkling diamonds, colorful gemstones and an international mix of industry professionals in the glittering show provided the formula for success to the organizers - the {{Department of Export Promotion (DEP)}} and the {{Thai Gems & Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA)}}.%% The Fair reported attendance figures of 32,757 visitors. DEP Director-General Chantra Purnariksha predicted that sales at the Bangkok fair will add substantially to Thai gems and jewellery exports, reach over US$3 billion mark this year. %% The top five countries visiting the Show were India, USA, Japan, Hong Kong and Australia.%% The fair opened up the opportunity for many international buyers to see new designs from Thai manufacturers and designers all under one roof in the 60,000 sq.m. exhibition hall at Impact Exhibition & Convention Center. %% Noteworthy attractions at the Bangkok Fair included many special pavilions presenting the finest gold, platinum and silver jewellery, rare and unusual gemstones along with displays of uniquely cut gemstones including diamonds.%% Exhibitors included gold and silver jewellery manufacturers, suppliers of diamonds, gemstones and pearls as well as machinery, equipment and packaging suppliers. In addition to companies from Thailand, exhibitors came from Japan, Hong Kong, China, India, Germany, the USA and many others.
Good Sales Reported:
Hot-2006 Pavilion:
The {{Hot 2006 Pavilion}} showcased new designs by over 150 exhibitors drawing a great deal of interest from international visitors. This friendly competition encouraged visitors to vote for their favorite selections and has remained a top attraction at the Show. %% The Thai Silver Exporters Club also had a large display for its members, which highlighted some of the high quality silver jewellery being produced by Thai manufacturers. Export figures for silver jewellery have shown marked increases for the past six years.%% The Fair was spread over in one floor plan with exhibitors grouped together by product category. Hall 1-4 displayed diamonds, precious and semi precious stones, pearls, gold and silver, equipment and machinery and other international exhibits. Hall 5 held only gold and silver jewellery, while hall 6-8 held jewellery box, body jewellery and publications. %% The Show took off to a good start with exhibitors expecting to better last year's performances. On September 15 evening, the Thai Gem & Jewelry Traders' Association hosted a special party to welcome and thank all participants under the concept of "Glamour Glitter". %% The gemstones-rich nation saw a lot of movement in green - emeralds and sapphires. The Show had plenty to offer in terms of latest designs and new collections, experimenting with hues. It also saw movement in far sizes. Nonetheless, it left little scope for growth being an established market. However, the Bangkok Show is already popular with the buyers and traders.
The event was held under the concept of 'The Brilliant Bangkok Brilliant Experience in the Land of Gems and Jewellery', as Thailand is one of the most gems-rich nations of the world. The kingdom has its heritage and is recognized for its highest production quality and outstanding designs - truly a land of gems and jewellery. %% Despite clash of dates the previous year with the Vicenza and Hong Kong shows, this year too the fair dates clashed with other shows, leaving the exhibitors with much less than what they had expected.
