Republic of Sakha President {{Vyacheslav Shtyrov}} addressed a meeting of leaders of the diamond industry at the {{Diamond Dealers Club (DDC)}} of New York, USA.%% President Shtyrov, who also serves as Chairman of the Kimberley Process, reported to a meeting of industry leaders on the implementation of the Kimberley Process worldwide. In his remarks, he indicated that peer review missions to participating countries are key to maintaining a high degree of confidence in the entire process. He also discussed the significance of maintaining accurate statistics on imports and exports of rough diamonds. %% DDC President {{Jacob Banda}}, who hosted the meeting, reported that the United States in fully compliant with the {{Kimberley Process}} Certification Scheme and voluntary chain of warranties. He further stated how much he welcomed the active role played by participating countries in implementing rules governing the movement of rough diamonds worldwide. %% Following the formal presentations, President Shtyrov responded to questions by {{International Diamond Manufacturers Association}} President {{Jeff Fischer, Diamond Manufacturers & Importers Association of America}} President {{Ronald J. Friedman, and Indian Diamond & Colorstone Association}} President {{Basant Johari}}. %% The industry leaders welcomed both President Shtyrov's presentation and his candid responses to their questions. They expressed their gratitude to him for assuming the Chairmanship of the Kimberley Process, a position that was critical to maintaining consumer confidence in the diamond industry.
