GIA Symposium attracts more than 700 visitors

GIA (Gemological Institute of America) marked its 80th anniversary with its Fifth International Gemological Symposium at the Carlsbad world headquarters on May 29-30.

IDL has taken the initiative to set up its lab at the headquarters of the Istanbul Chamber of Jewelry (IKO) in Istanbul. This will make it the first such international lab to be set up in Turkey. The location in Istanbul is strategic to the deliverables of the lab as IKO represents 6.000 wholesalers and retailers from the Istanbul region. “Turkey has become a leading jewellery manufacturing center and a rapidly growing diamond jewellery consumer market. A presence in Istanbul is a logical next step for IDL. We are delighted to have the support of a trade organisation like IKO”, said Peter Meeus, CEO of IDL. %% IDL announced this initiative at the Istanbul Jewelry Show stating that international experts will be employed in with lab to manage its operations. The lab will offer diamond and jewellery certification services and is expected to deliver its first certificate by June 2008. %% “We are very happy to welcome IDL as the first international diamond grading laboratory to Istanbul. High quality certificates, offered locally to the business community are essential for the further development of the Turkish diamond and jewellery business. IDL has the right products and services to respond to that need.” said Allaattin Kameroclu, President of IKO.
