Diamonds International Canada (DICAN) Ltd. will be assessing the value of the roughs produced at De Beers Canada’s Victor mine, so as to identify the value of royalties to be paid at the time of production. The company has been appointed by the Ontario government, through an international bidding process. Part of DICAN’s responsibility will also be to recommend the valuation and auditing of diamond production, to the government. %% The De Beers Victor mine is located near Attawapiskat is the first such mine in its surroundings. The mine has been estimated to have a 12-year life span, in which, it would achieve a production of approximately 600,000 carats of diamonds. It began with rough production in 2008, and is expected to achieve full capacity in the latter part of the year.
