IDMA's New President is Maxim Shkadov from Russia

The 35th World Diamond Congress concluded in Mumbai on 17th October 2012, with the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) electing a new board for the upcoming two-year term.

A condolence meeting was organized on November 29, ’08 at 5.30 pm at Prasad Chambers, in Mumbai’s famed diamond district at Opera House, by the Mumbai Diamond Merchants Association, the Bharat Diamond Bourse and the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) to salute the memory of those killed in the terrorist attack in the city. The meeting was attended by well-known diamantaires of the industry like Arun Mehta of Rosyblue, Ketan Parikh, partner, Mahendra Brothers, Vikram Merchant, manager, Rio Tinto Diamonds office in Mumbai and Sanjay Kothari, former chairman of the GJEPC. %% Speaking at the meeting Vasant Mehta, chairman of the GJEPC, lauded the efforts of the commandos and the policemen who were slain in the city. Mehta announced that the Gems and Jewellery Foundation would set aside Rs 50 lakh for the welfare of those who were injured or the next-of-kin of slain personnel. He urged the industry to begin its work again with verve and élan and be unafraid of any future terrorist strikes in the city.
