Avi Paz, president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) will be among other industry leaders speaking at the Prodiam Seminar slated a day prior to the Iberjoya international jewellery show in Spain. The show will be held from September 9-13, 2009. The seminar is held annually to discuss industry issues - from gemmological testing to the diamond, gemstone and jewellery trade. %% This year the seminar will also provide also focus on the issues affecting both the Spanish and international diamond market. Spanish representative Antonio Navarro, manager of Vanessnark, will make a presentation on diamond trading and ways to realise the potential of the Spanish market. Mark van Bockstael, director of international relations, Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC). will address the international diamond market and the Kimberley process. The seminar will coincide with the WFDB InterBourse Pavillion being launched as the first ever diamond trading area to be hosted at an exhibition. %% "The diamond retail market in Spain has a lot of potential and the WFDB would like to explain the importance of the WFDB Mark in order to increase consumer confidence in diamonds. One of the WFDB's aims is to create a level of assurance in the downstream market of wholesalers, dealers and retailers. It is therefore important for them to understand the best business practices followed by members of the WFDB and the code of ethics that the 28 diamond exchanges worldwide that are affiliated to the WFDB abide to. " mentioned Paz. %% The WFDB InterBourse Pavilion will be prominently positioned at the exhibition with eight showcases and trading tables located within a display area. Tight security arrangements will be ensured on the trading floor. A few spaces remain available, with five diamond companies already committed to participating in this first-ever WFDB Interbourse pavilion. These include Diamond Centers International (DCI); Sage Diamonds; and Rubin & Zonen of Antwerp, Belgium, and Eliezer Broide Diamonds and Leo Schachter Diamonds of Ramat Gan, Israel.
