Standard gold (99.5 purity) prices crossed the Rs. 17,000 per 10 grams mark for the first time in history, and touched Rs.17,035 per 10 grams, reports say. The prices closed at Rs.17,015 per 10 grams, rising by Rs.85 per 10 grams from the overnight closing level of Rs.16,030 per 10 grams. Pure gold (99.9 purity) prices closed at Rs.17,105 per 10 grams, rising by Rs.90 per 10 grams from the previous close of Rs.17,015 per 10 grams. %% The rise in prices is being attributed to indulgent buying by stockists and the prices firming up on the NewYork Mercantile Exchange (NYME), reports say.
