For its ‘Cartier and America’ exhibition scheduled to be held at San Francisco’s Legion of Honor, from December 2009 to April 2010, renowned jeweller Cartier will exhibit over 300 rare jewellery pieces, reports say. The jewellery to be showcased has its origins from the early 20th century Belle Epoque period through the 1970s and will be displayed in three themes including precious gems, sentimental jewellery owned by American screen idols and clocks. %% The exhibit will also display the names of the famous Americans who owned the jewellery. %% Some of the popular pieces to be exhibited include the Princess Grace of Monaco’s personal jewellery – a 10.47-carat emerald-cut diamond ring embedded with two baguettes set in platinum, diamond necklace and signature gold “bird” brooches, all which will be displayed for the first time ever. A brooch owned by cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post, carved in rare Indian carved emeralds from the 1920s is also being displayed. ‘Mystery’ clocks from 1913 are also part of the exhibit.
