The International Gemological Institute School of Gemology hosted its graduation ceremony for over 60 students in Mumbai, on 24th December 2009. Russell Mehta, COO, Rosy Blue and chief guest at the event presented the students with diplomas issued from the IGI headquarters in Antwerp, Belgium. %% Mr. Russell Mehta also shared a few insights about the gem and jewellery with the students. Hailing the gem and jewellery industry as a harbinger of happiness to its customers, he also emphasised that as the industry is completely based on trust, one must strictly adhere to the highest ethical and moral standards at every level to make a career in this industry. “As an individual or as a company, one must always follow best practices and work with highest integrity and honesty so that the consumer’s trust in our product is never compromised.” %% The graduation ceremony comes at a time when the industry is slowly reviving from the economic slump. Ramit Kapur, General Manager, IGI, says during the tough times companies have realised the importance of professional people in the industry in order to stay in business. He says, “Over the last 10 years, IGI Education has been an active contributor in providing talented gemologists, graders, designers and professional experts to this industry. We will develop more programs to serve this industry in the modern times to be at par with the latest developments in the industry internationally. Our success can be seen through the thousands of smiling aspiring students who will bring a positive change in this industry.”
