Vinaya will be focused more in the two tier and three tier cities. This is in lieu with the growing consumer spending and good jewellery business in those areas. Over and above that generalized topics related to Bullions, Standardization of Quality, Direct Tax Codes related to the industry. Each city will host a 2-day show. The 1st day will be an open to all show where members of the local jewelers fraternity will be allowed to come in along with their employees. This will be an open forum for all. Day 2 will be more exclusive, will be on a pay and use basis, and will be open to purely business owners. Professionals and Veterans of the industry will also be asked to be speakers on various topics related to progressing the industry. Pre Summit, a GJF & IIJ squad along with the local association heads will survey the assigned territory. This squad will go door to door (jeweller to jeweller) introducing Vinaya and ensuring that they visit the summit. The venue and the date of the summit in each city has been scientifically planned in order to ensure that it is extremely convenient for the jeweller to visit the summit. This formula have been developed keeping in mind the experience of both the GJF and IIJ since 2007, and that every city a minimum of 150 to 200 jewellers visit the show. Those cities in India where there is an at least 350 jewellers fraternity in the proposed territory have been chosen.%%
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. C Vinod Haygariv, Chairman, GJF commented “Vinaya is a monumental project for GJF & IIJ. It’s after affects will be immeasurable to the industry. In India, hardly six to eight percent of the industry lies in the organized sector. GJF & IIJ will engineer Vinaya to transform the industry from the unorganized sector to the organized sector. In order to do that, the industry needs to open up and first needs to get educated. This is one of GJF’s endeavours to promote, protect and progress the Indian gems & jewellery industry”%% Mr. Vedant Jatia, Chairman, IIJ commented “India as a country is growing. Urban India is rapidly developing and growing, but on the other hand rural India is amplifying and the business of jewellery is actually flourishing. The sale and consumption of jewellery in rural India, is way higher, then, in comparison to urban India. Rural India needs the actual education, as jewelers in these areas are not exposed to international business standards and methodologies. It is in rural India where the true numbers in terms of volume for jewellery are, hence, Vinaya will be focused more on Tier II & Tier III cities.”
