The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), organiser of the IIJS 2010, has issued a circular informing about changes in the event this year. GJEPC is introducing changes in the floorplan due to the planned phase wise renovation and construction activities at the Complex. The Council assures its best efforts to minimise inconvenience to its exhibitors. This alteration although could result in a loss of regular buyers, who would have difficulty in finding their regular suppliers on the floor. %% The changes are: {{ Special Product Section only for Loose Stones (Diamonds & Colour gemstones) }} This section would involve exhibits of only loose stones including loose diamonds and loose coloured stones and would not display jewellery. Participants in this section will include Indian domestic loose dealers & foreign counterparts from Israel, Belgium, Thailand etc.. {{Repercussions -}} Moving the loose stone exhibitors to a specific section could create a empty space in the exhibit area, making the environment more focused and comfortable for customers. %% {{ Enhancement of Mezzanine Stalls:}} The GJEPC has identified certain island stalls in different sections of the floor plan as “ONLY Mezzanine Units”, where such stalls are required to be constructed as Mezzanine stalls. {{Repercussions -}} If the mezzanine booth option is taken for a larger booth, it would increase the exhibitor’s cost but also result in more space for exhibitors. The revision in the floor plan will allow more participation and new domestic and international companies who are waiting for the past three-four years can now be given a chance at the show. This could increase the show size by around 20 percent. %% {{ A Special International Product Gallery cum lounge only for foreign visitors will be created to showcase the capabilities of our Exhibitors at a Prime location in order to attract International Clientele:}} To be a part of this, companies are required to satisfy certain pre-set criteria in product profile and export turnover and will then undergo selection. The Council has planned promoting this segment in the international market via media, fairs and road shows, in turn attract international buyer interest and buyer delegations.
%% {{ Stalls to cost more for IIJS 2010 :}} A significant change at the IIJS 2010, will be the cost of exhibition, brought about by a 10 percent hike in venue rentals. {{Repercussions -}} The overbearing hike could lead to exhibitors paying 20 percent extra, for participation. The show is becoming costlier by the year, and one hopes for good business to meet the effects of a stiff market.
