The HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show has unfolded today, continuing until 9 March 2010 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Day one has brought in a good buyer turnout, redefining the growing importance of Hong Kong in the global gem and jewellery scenario. This year saw over 2,600 booths of exhibitors. The show is counted as the third largest trade event in the world. %% Due to the forthcoming Basel Show which will begin in less than 10 days, the presence of European buyers was felt less, although there were buyers from India, Middle East, Russia, and China, on Day one. %% There has been a shift in the arrangement of stalls at the event this year, with the entire loose stones booths being shifted to Hall No. 3. With the diamond prices being strong, buyers were seeking better deals at the show. Gemstones like tanzanite and emeralds were witnessing better demands than previous years, and also an improvement in their prices.
