The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has appointed Bev Hori, G.G., as its Vice President of Education and Chief Learning Officer with immediate effect. Hori who at one time was an instructor at GIA will be returning to the organisation to enhance its educational programmes. %% Her work speaks of achievements such as working with Seattle-based Ben Bridge Jeweler most recently as vice president of education, with Jewelers of America (JA) and GIA to increase ethics, knowledge and professionalism. “My love of education began at GIA, where it all started for me,” said Hori. “I look forward to bringing all that I’ve learned back to GIA to help make its education programmes even more engaging and achievable than ever before.” %% Donna Baker, GIA’s president and CEO said, “Ms. Hori has a passion and flare for enhancing the industry’s professionalism, expertise and ethical standing. Her vision and enthusiasm will guide exciting new initiatives for GIA and its vital education programmes.” %% Hori has also served on the board of directors for JA and the American Gem Society, as president of the Pacific Northwest Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA) Chapter, and member of the Standards Committee of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). Hori has received the WJA Award of Excellence in Special Services.
