In the effort to spread in-depth knowledge on melo pearls which are gaining importance in the gemological industry today, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Thailand has arranged a lecture entitled ‘Melo Pearls’, to be delivered by Nicholas Sturman, GIA supervisor of Pearl Identification. The lecture will be held at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Bangkok on July 28, 2010 and will be an entry-free event. %% Sturman will present all aspects of the melo pearl phenomenon, its origins, gemological characteristics that make it so sought after. %% A noted author and speaker on the subject. Sturman has spent over 22 years in the detailed examination of pearls. He has served as gemological advisor to the Bahrain Government’s Gem and Pearl Testing Laboratory, spending 16 years in studying pearls in the region. Sturman obtained his Fellowship (FGA) and Diamond Membership (DGA) of The Gemmological Association of Great Britain.
