Dalumi HK Ltd., an exhibitor at the IIJS 2010 reported the loss of a box of diamonds on the penultimate day of the hugely successful IIJS 2010, which concluded on August 23, 2010. The show organizers immediately closed all gates, which were opened shortly thereafter and each person was thoroughly checked before being allowed to go out. This created some amount of chaos at closing time of the show which was held under stringent security and surveillance. %% Meir Dalumi confirmed to |*diamondworld.net*| on the phone from Israel that the company suspected the loss of a high value parcel of loose stones, but was unable to confirm the exact value as the company’s representatives at the show were still taking stock of their inventory, at the time of talking to him. Initial reports from the floor of the show had put the value of the “lost” parcel at roughly half a million dollars. %% Representatives of The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council told |*diamondworld.net*| that the company would have to file a police complaint and it was a matter for the police to investigate. The representative said that the GJEPC would extend full co-operation to the police, including handing over CCTV tapes etc. However, at the time of going to press it was not clear whether a police complaint had indeed been filed, as Dalumi was still checking its stock.
