Second Dubai Diamond Conference to be held in April

The conference will be held at Almas Tower from 21st to 22nd April.

Rising successfully to the challenge, Gruosi returned to Italy after three years, where he was enlisted by Bulgari, for a specially created position. The job: selling Bulgari creations all over the globe. This opened up, literally, a world of opportunities as he met the cream of the international jewellery fraternity. The years with Bulgari were rich in experience which was to stand Gruosi in good stead in time to come. %% When Gianni Bulgari left the company, Gruosi too parted ways with it, and decided the time had come to go independent.%% Neither gemmologist not designer, Gruosi’s innate creativity and passion, his instinctive feel for trends, a sharply developed aesthetic sense, and his zest for exploring new areas have been the key to his success.%% Along with two other associates, he set up de Grisogono in 1993. Spherical rings as if sliced in the centre which come in studded and non-studded halves. And can be used singly or together for more impact. The beauty lies in the contrasting shapes, use of plain gold or studded, in the two halves and the finish: a convex studded globule or a concave polished plain gold finish. Profoundly impactful.%% {{Boule}}$4 Joyous movement pervades this collection of different kinds of “balls” or beads, in plain gold or studded gold, and woven with chains into necklaces, and cuffs or strung to make earrings. The studding is to watch out for – though some beads are fully pave set, it is those subtle beads with just random artistically placed gemstones, that add a touch of excitement to the collection.

{{Ticking Times}}$$ In the year 2000, de Grisogono created another milestone by introducing its first watch collection, which was launched at the Basel Show that year - Instrumento N Uno, The company was also the first to introduce galuchat watch straps.$$ Since then the company has launched about 20 collections - timepieces for both men and women, some serious, some fun. But all are by now acclaimed and have a following. And like its jewellery each one is distinctive.$$ The jewel of the timepieces is the limited edition {{Occhio Ripetizone Minuti.}} A wristwatch, it is a minute repeater featuring church gongs. It has a 12-blade diaphragm which opens like a camera shutter and shows the movement when the gong chimes.
The other limited edition watch, the {{Meccanico DG}} has a patented double time display in both analog and digital formats. It’s design is considered a novel concept in mechanical Haute Horlogerie.$$ It has eight other collections for men including the original Instrumento N Uno, Instrumento Grande Open Date, Instrumento Grande, Instrumento Doppio Tre, Instrumentino, Fulso Quadrato, FG One, Instrumento Novantatre and a travel clock. $$ Amongst the nine women’s collections, while some are the counterparts of the men’s collections, some are fun and utterly feminine like {{Be Eight}} and {{Lipstick}}. Be Eight with the dial shaped like the figure eight, has a rim to the dial studded with stones and straps in matching colours. Lipstick has a dial mounted on various shaped lispstick holders studded with gemstones. %% {{The Sum of its Parts}}$$ Today the company has a 17 boutiques and a retail presence in different parts of the world. It has boutiques in the US, Europe, India (in New Delhi), Middle East, China and the Far East. It’s luxury products are available through retailers in many more places, including also, Canada, and Australia apart from those above. De Grisogono has its own manufacturing capabilities for both jewellery and watches. $$ Since it was first set up in 1993, de Grisogono has achieved “constant and sustained growth, averaging more than 25% yearly”, according to the company. With turnover of CHF 135 million in 2007, when it celebrated its 15th anniversary, its own manufacturing and an established reputation for the brands it produces, de Grisogono has every reason to be confident about the future.
