A gold coin bearing a Taj Mahal engraving is set to be released in a limited edition. This endeavour is the initiative of Government Bank of France La Monnaie de Paris. The edition will include 29 coins, each priced at Rs 65 lakh and weighing about one kilogram with 50 Cartier diamonds. %% With this initiative, the bank intends to bring recognition to the historical monument voted as one of the seven wonders of the world three years ago. To finalise the design of the coin, international manager of La Monnaie de Paris Thomas Jeunet met with city Mayor Anjula Mahaur. The unveiling of the coins is slated for November 17, 2010. The collection will be marketed in India by the Taj Association for Art, Culture and Heritage (TAACH). The collection will also include silver coins in a limited edition of 10,000 pieces costing around Rs.3,000 per coin. There are also a number of other gold and silver coins as part of the endeavour.
