%% Day 3 of the IIJW 2011 saw some fabulous, opulent and breathtaking jewellery being modeled by the who’s who of tinsel town. %% Utsavi or Dream Girl was the glamorous name of the festive bridal collection of jewellery presented by Manubhai Gems at the India International Jewellery Week 2011. Steeped in beauty and covered in a creative aura of design, the Utsavi range had the intricate detailing and richness of diamonds and pearls all studded onto gold. Creating the mood of the festive season was singer Shruti Pathak who regaled the audience with some soul stirring songs as the models sashayed down the ramp wearing the beautiful ethnic and western creations of the very talented designer, Karan Berry of AKA Designs. %%
%% Agni CZ Gold Jewels association with Swarovski made a strong fashionable design statement on the ramp. The show opened with an energetic and pulsating dance number by four dancers to set the mood for the entry of Yuvika Chaudhary star of Naughty at 40 wearing the beautiful jewellery called The Mughal specially created by Agni CZ with 18 K gold and Swarovski components. The Mughal is a miniature replica of Noor Jehan’s balcony with two peacocks on either side and tied with a bronze silk tassel. The finale of the show was of course reserved for the face of Agni CZ, brand ambassador, beautiful Amrita Rao who graceful took the ramp wearing The Floral Fantasy necklace – a 3D piece in 18K gold with Swarovski components which is anchored with a luxurious silk scarf. The piece inspired by Mother Nature was in shades of green, violet, orchid and pink. %%
%% The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) India presented the gorgeous collections of its four graduates Muskaan Parikh, Niyati Mehta, Jaya Bhandari and Nehal Shah. Each of the designs showcased were breathtaking and daringly different – Muskaan had an impressive baguette ruby centred with strands of diamonds, rows of pearls were broken with an off-centre diamond piece, while five strands of emeralds with a pendant was teamed with matching ring and bracelet, Niyati had a fountain of graduating circles with a pearl drop for a necklace, a moulded diamond neck piece, a floral pendant in shades of pink and white diamonds, a striking onyx strand with a double circle diamond centre and an emerald strand choker with ruby drops. Jaya made an impact with a two strand rudraksh necklace with a giant oval pendant with pearls and ruby, Jaya had double loop earrings with a floral burst matched with clusters of rubies for a ring, a three strands pearls necklace with side pendant and a giant pearls necklace with an engraved gold shield centre. Nehal’s polki necklaces were impressive with a V shaped piece and matching earrings, while the draped version glittered under the ramp lights with gold. It was a beautiful fan shaped pendant edged with pearls neck piece that was outstanding; while the multi circle double hoop gold earrings showed a more avant garde style direction. %%
%% The designer duo of Dipti and Amisha Jhaveri displayed one of the most divine collections. Called “A Treasure with Measure” the collection glittered with exquisite designs and brilliant intricate detailing. The show stopping entrance was made by TV star, Smita Bansal of the popular hit Balika Vadhu wearing an amazing giant Temple and European inspired necklace, bangles and ring with the most intricate craftsmanship. %%
%% Sawansukha’s collection inspired by the Navratnas the collection called “Celestial Divas” was aimed at the bride of the 21st century. Magnificent collars with moulded triangular diamond pieces, the heart shaped emerald pendants, the asymmetric swirl of onyx edging an uncut diamond collar, diamonds flowing into rows of gold circular spirals and the chandelier earrings with pearl drops will be jewellery which brides will long for.Two Bollywood stars added grace and glamour to the show as Mahima Chaudhary looking sophisticated with an angular looped coiled necklace with large motifs at each end and the ever popular Dum Maro Dum girl, beauteous Zeenat Aman wearing a diamond and ruby creation with matching earrings gracefully glided down the catwalk. %%
%%If the three days that have gone by are any indication, Day 4 and Day 5 are going to be worth looking forward to! %%
