The {{Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council}} (GJEPC) organized its 3rd edition of the Indo Euro Summit in Mumbai from the 15th – 18th November 2011. The Indo Euro summit saw meetings between European Retailers and 15 leading Indian jewellery manufacturers.%% Interactive sessions & one-on-one meeting between manufacturers & retailers were organized on 15th & 16th November at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Mumbai whereas factory visits were conducted as per retailers’ choice on 17th & 18th November. This summit gave a unique opportunity to traders and retailers to share views, exchange notes and discuss technologies over and above discussing operational attributes of Inter country transactions. Such interactions will go a long way in strengthening relationships and fostering a good rapport between the countries. It was an ideal platform to discuss business opportunities and get an insight into each other's style of business operations.%% {{Sanjay Kothari}}, Vice-Chairman GJEPC said on this occasion “The Indo Euro summit gave an opportunity for one on one interaction between manufacturers and retailers which is absent during trade shows thereby giving an impetus to trade and business. Factory visits conducted during this summit enabled European retailers to get an insight into Indian jewellery designing and manufacturing capabilities.”%% India's exports to Europe at the end of calendar year 2010 stood at US$3127.09 million and exports till October 2011 stood at US$ 3989.69 million marking a slight increase from last year. The total exports for period Jan-Oct 2011 is pegged US$ 40358.81million.%% {{Filip Van Laere}}, Council’s coordinator for Europe said “Over the past three years we have seen an increase in the number of European retailers participating in the summit and I am glad to report that the earlier interactions which saw only the medium end retailers coming forward to transact business has now translated into the high end retailers coming forward to transact business and form business associations. This marks unprecedented progress for us and augers well for future interactions.”%% A manufacturing firm participating from India since the inception of the Indo Euro summit, {{Robin Gandhi from KBS Designs}} said, “That the summit in the past has helped us get rid of obstacles coming in the way of Interactions with the European countries and helped us connect with good quality retailers diversifying our business to encompass more markets and better our knowledge base. We hope to help GJEPC in promoting Brand India and aid them by providing better jewellery products and a greater window to Indian culture to the visiting retailers leading to enhanced performance.”%% The Summit saw participants from such diverse horizons as France, Germany, Poland and Eastern Europe, as well as the major jewellery retail chain from South Africa. For the first time, the participants included Wholesalers, TV jewellery channels and one of the leading luxury retailers of France.%% The Indian contingent consisted of manufacturers including Asian Star Jewel, Core Jewellery, Fine Jewellery Manufacturing, Goldiam International, Indigo Jewellery, Intercarat Jewellery, Intergold (India), KBS Designs, Kiran Jewels, Patdiam Jewellery, Priority Jewels , SNC Jewels, Stellar Jewellery, Sunjewels International, UNI Design jewellery.%%
