Sothebys New Yorks important jewels auction held on September 20, 2012, was a big success as they churned up revenue worth USD 16383856 (total sales were estimated at USD 14 mn). %% They sold a 5.08 ct. round fancy pink diamond for USD 1426500 (carrying estimate sale price of USD 700000). The auction house also stated that signed jewels and stones below 10 carats received good bidding overall and most of the top 10 prices came from American trade buyers. %% Few of the important jewels sold included a 3.09 ct. pear-shape fancy intense orange-pink diamond pendant which sold for USD 770500 and a 13.22 ct. Kashmir sapphire and diamond ring was sold for USD 578500; both lots of which were sold well above presale estimates. %% Gary Schuler, the head of Sothebys jewelry department in New York, said, ''We saw particularly strong prices for unique color diamonds, led by the fancy light pink diamond that soared to USD 1426500 above a high estimate of USD 700000. While many of our top 10 prices came from American trade buyers, both signed jewels and stones under 10 carats brought spirited bidding from collectors worldwide.''
