GIA president Donna Baker previously announced the gift during her visit to Israel in September on the occasion of the opening of the GIA's new offices in the Holy Land.%% A festive ceremony held recently marked the arrival of the two new machines: DiamondSure, an advanced system for identifying and estimating the worth of diamonds, and a gemological microscope. GIA senior vice-president Tom Moses joined the celebration celebration and supervised the transfer of the equipment to the IDE's technological wing. The IDE's technological wing and its modern tools are accessible to all bourse members.%% IDE president Yair Sahar thanked GIA president Baker for the donation. Technological wing gemologist Sergey Lazun explained that the DiamondSure allows for the quick and efficient identification of polished diamonds that are synthetic or that have undergone special treatments.
