India's gold jewellery demand surges 48% to 147 tonnes

CHANDRAKANT Sanghavi, the convener for the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in the Gujarat region, received the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Samman -2006’ award in Delhi, on August 22, 2006. The award was instituted by All-India National Unity Conference (AINUC), in memory of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi%%The awardees are selected based on outstanding services, achievements and contributions in various fields. The award recognises efforts to strengthen national unity and promote economic development.
