Jewellers call for 3-day strike against excise duty

Hon'ble FM Arun Jaitley announced excise duty on jewellery during his budget speech on 29th February 2016.

Completing 3 years of its journey in India, Forevermark the diamond brand from the De Beers group of companies currently partners with - 120 leading authorized jewellers across 18 cities to bring to Indian consumer the most beautiful, rare and responsibly sourced diamonds in the world.%%   To celebrate the successful journey till date and to strengthen the bond of Forevermark’s association with the jewellers, Forevermark hosted select retailers in December in two of the most beautiful cities in Europe- Antwerp and Milan. Following the last years visit to London and Scotland and to South Africa a year before, the visit this time was to provide first hand experience  on Forevermark diamonds- to witness the stringent processes involved in inscribing and grading a Forevermark diamond, to meet World’s leading diamantaires each having a unique specialization and to meet the design team .With a visit to Forevermark  Diamond institute, this trip was nothing less than magical for all those who are passionate about diamonds and specially  the retailers who are there in the business of creating masterpiece and  offering the best to its customers.%%               Sachin Jain, President, Forevermark India commented “As we embark on a new year, we thought this would be a great time to celebrate our accomplishment together with our honoured partners in India; The Forevermark jewellers. To commemorate this success, Forevermark organised a trip to Europe to further strengthen the partnership between the brand and the jewellers. This trip was a follow up to the trip organised by Forevermark last year to showcase the journey of a Forevermark diamond to our friends. This year we continued the experience where the story of a diamond was further narrated. We hope that our partnerships move from strength to strength and that we continue to have a fruitful long-lasting association in years to come.”%%   Forevermark had earlier taken the retailers to South Africa for the mine visit in 2011 and to the House of De Beers, London in 2012 where the complete journey of a diamond from mine to ring was explicated. They were also the privileged few to visit the diamond sorting floor. Once in a lifetime experience, the retailers had returned enriched and motivated with a strong commitment of best quality and design that holds true for the brand Forevermark. In December 2013, the retailers visited the Forevermark Diamond Institute (FDI) in Antwerp to witness the stringent processes involved in inscribing and grading a Forevermark diamond.%%   Flying from across cities, select partners were warmly welcomed in the beautiful city of Amsterdam. The 5 day journey started with a mesmerizing sightseeing tour on a canal cruise. The journey continued with a visit to the FDI (internationally renowned centre of diamond excellence) to understand the strides taken by the FDI in the identification of synthetics, using its proprietary technology. Mr Stephen Lussier, CEO Forevermark hosted a cocktail evening along with world’s leading diamantaires from Antwerp and interacted with the partners by sharing some interesting facts about the industry. The team also visited the fashion capital of the world- Milan where Costantino, Head of Forevermark Design and Innovation Centre, shared his insights on design trends and how to leverage these trends for business. An exclusive VIP evening was planned at the Todd’s Flagship store. The journey ended with a tour to the Pinacoteca Di Brera & Fornasetti at the Triennale.%% Anmol Jewellers, C. Krishniah Chetty & Sons, A.S.Motiwala, Chintamanis, Gujranwala Jewellers, Hazoorilal, Mahesh Notandas, Mehta Emporium, Navratna Jewellers, Neelkanth, Notandas & Sons, Khurana Jewellery House, Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers were some of the key retailers that were a part of the tour.
